is it Break Up Season?

It Seems it is!

This is gonna be really short! i SWEAR! Blogger's Honour!

So, it really IS a break-up season. seems like breaking up is the new cool. Not to brag or anything, being SINGLE has always been really fetch and as thus, some of us plan on being single till the day we meet our spouses.

Anyway, i ask, and please do not laugh. At what age is a human being ready to start thinking of dating? Like seriously. some of us are never gonna be ready.

Recently, we heard that Liam and Miley split, and what followed after that, and what had been before that were splits. Ariana Grande and Jai Brooks went their separate ways and next thing, she was dating a Nathan Sykes (is that right?) from The Wanted.

Talking about bands, it brings me to my next Break-up-----> Jonas Brothers.

have i mentioned them? No. today might be the first time i reveal how i became a Jonatic.

I had just gotten into campus, and i was all lost and alone (still am by the way, 3 years later. okay, no interrupting) and i was downloading music by Demi Lovato when i came across Joe Jonas. They had a duet, This Is Me for the movie, "Camp Rock" so i decided to download some Joe Jonas.

as i checked out Joe Jonas, i found Jonas Brothers. i got their music and listened to it. and i remember the first song i heard was Burning Up, followed by Play My Music, the l;atter being a soundtrack in "Camp Rock"

and thus, began my interrupted relationship with these charmers.

Interrupted, huh? apparently, in 2008, NTV Kenya aired Camp Rock and i caught it towards the end, when Mitchie (Demi) was singing This Is Me. i loved the music, and i googled them, but after that, i just forgot them. my sister got When You Look Me In The Eye and she used to play it all the time, i was so bored and sick of it, i was half tempted to delete it from her phone.

anyway, 5 years on,.they have parted ways. i mean, they have been famous for only 7 years. and what happened to them being together till their 7th album? (i quote that from Year 3000. wait, is it 2nd or 7th album)

shoving "1st world problems" aside, the break-ups are also local. one of my friends broke up with her boyfriend, and another got ditched by her boyfriend, in under a month. one of the girls i have a close relationship with also broke up with her guy for the umpteenth time.

I als wonder to myself, why start running to intimacy when you start dating? No need to follow everything that Hollywood shows. Meet on day 1, make out in the bathroom, by the end of the first week, the two are having sex in the guy's place, and everywhere else whenever they can. THAT IS NOT LOVE. JUST LUST

why?

Remember when you were a kid, your mum and dad told you to never talk to strangers? You never did, right? Then why are you having sex with a stranger?

i am not judging or anything, but why rush to act like a bunny who has a limited num,ber of days to live while you can wait till the right time for a relationship that intimate? Sex is only secure and funa nd satisfying when it is done in marriage. Okay, how did i get to that topic?

Back to break-ups. Dating is not easy. and that is why its best for you to know what you really want before you approach anyone. do you want to be friends, or more than friends? once you start. you can't back down. once you say some things, you can't erase them.

Think!

Or else you will have like a thousand plus exes and people will label you loose.

i never said dating was easy, did i? Everytime you deal intimately with someone, you give a part of you. okay, so by the time you meet the man God decreed for you, you will be all empty and insecure.

Wouldn't you want to at least have something to give the person you will spend the rest of your days with? You should guard yourselves, save your hearts for someone who matters. Someone who is worth it.

So, stop dating just to get over someone else. it is pathetic. treat yourself with dignity.

anyways, who am i to give you dating advice? i have a non-existent love life, right?

Anyways, i hope no one else breaks up, because i am tired of seeing ex-couples and their friends from bothe sides fighting on social media.

the real reason i wrote this post was not to intimidate anyone, or persecute. Ebverybody has their way of life, and mine includes updating my blog. sorry if i ruffled a few feathers.

this looks pretty long, huh? okay, it ends here. gotta go, i need to save the world! *tears away the buibui and flies out in the Muslim SuperWoman Outfit* SuoperWoman is HERE! To save the little people in distress./ What's wrong child?

Love,  xoxo
~Me

Wait, WHAT?!

hmm, that seems to be my catch phrase. No, wait, WHAT? it ISN'T! my catch phrase is "Vas Happenin'?"

but for the last few days/months, things have been changing rapidly. so rapidly, it all seems a blur. not complaining anyway. and don't you start saying it is my love life, coz that never spins in and out of control like the rest of my life.

And, while we are talking about love lives, can you believe Ariana Grande is already seeing somebody? This last half of the year has been filled with more and more surprises. It doesn't get any better if you see yourself crying over a band break-up.

Bands breaking-up, huh? Well, that would have to be Jonas Brothers, and maybe, just maybe, One Direction. Okay, not One Direction, right? Well, Louis is planning to leave the band. And we all know, One Direction is NOT One Direction without Louis Tomlinson!

No way. Right?

When Jonas Brothers de-activated their Twitter account, i felt awful. i have loved their music as much as they have loved me (okay, lets correct that. No, its fine)

even then, we have to let it go if that is how they want it, huh?

Away from that, my school will probably be closing by mid December. that is good news.I for one, just wanna lie back and enjoy the rest of the year. We have had super-busy schedules, leading to neglect of my blog.

But that is not all. Yesterday, someone read my blog! i felt happy! so happy!

Today, however, is another thing. I have this allergy and it makes my mornings the worst. as i write this post, my nostrils and throat are aching, along with my chest. but that won't bring me down. i have had this problem for years, and i probably will have them for more.

what i hate about mornings is getting up at 6am for a 10am class. i used to be the early worm type of person, but now . . . i am Grumpy! Yes, and Sleepy. Incase you are wondering, those are Dwarfs names. i got them from Once Upon A Time.

i don't think you made head or tail of this post. if you didn't, neither did i. i was just ranting. SORRY FOLKS!

oh, and while at it, please vote for Sautisol in the CHOAMVA 2013, okay? gotta go. BYE!

WhatsApp?

hello everyone! this is my fourteenth post, i think.

the title does not mean the app, it means something else completely. like me asking, "what's up" or "wazzup". you get it, right? but i prefer the Zayn Malik line-> "vas happenin?" coz it is so cool and Indian *blush* what, i like Indians! they are very likable, though i know Zayn is half Pakistani. they are pretty cool too, Indians and Pakistanis. *in Indian Accent* i salute them and if they are still fighting, please tell them to stop!

so, what's been happening in your life? well, mine has been really busy! yes, and i even have a CAT this week, so i am gonna keep this really short.

the past three or so months have been like a whirlwind to me. so much has happened that i haven't talked about. like how Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato came to Kenya, how SautiSol, Nick Ndeda and the amazing Amileena Mwenesi followed me on twitter, (NOT BRAGGING!), how seventy year old men have been getting girls preggs, how the late Mutula Kilonzo's son won the seat of senator (was it senator really? forgotten) and finally, how the Westgate Mall attack went.

wait, that is not the final detail. i forgot Miley Cyrus' strip tease and actual nudity and, oh well, i won't give her airtime. i also forgot the guys from One Direction releasing their movie,'This Is Us' and their album, Midnight Memories (lol, i don't know why my mind is thinking what it is thinking, hehe), Demi's new tour and, wait for it, my practicals and Demi having blue hair.

am i gushing too much? LOL!

anyway, those are the highlights. i will touch on each one of them, briefly. because, yes, some are emerging issues.

oh, i forgot something else-there is this new treatment for septic wounds where they introduce flies' larva that eat away rotten flesh and DON'T burrow into flesh. i said, DON'T so you needn't worry. it will help people who have Diabetes and other conditions that make wounds take forever to heal. i learnt about it on Entomology when we were studying Myiasis but i saw an article on one of the local papers last week. Either The Standard or The Daily Nation.

okay, so for the news from the headlines.

Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato Come To Kenya
have you watched Camp Rock? Yes? No? oh well, the story of Camp Rock (sigh) it is a Disney Movie that these two acted in, taking lead roles. that is how i got to know about these two. after the second movie of this movie was shot( wait, i meant sequel) the two Disney stars dated. and it didn't end well. Demi ended up in rehab, while Joe ended up with Ashley Greene (she plays the role of Edward's sister in Twilight) and yes, it was kind of the end of their friendship.

so, they became friends again in 2012 and now they are in the same Charity! okay, not too excited but it is a feat! i mean, it is not everyday that you and your ex manage to work together peacefully. they have also worked together for the Acuvue 1 day Contest as Mentors to winners.

anyways, they are both working with a Charity from Canada called Free The Children which helps children from different countries have a better life.

no, they didn't come on the same day to Kenya, but it was much appreciated! :)

the best part, Demi celebrated her Big 21 here with her mum. isn't that exciting?!

SautiSol, Nick Ndeda, Amileena follow @Ynabeesa on twitter.

yes. i know, i sound like i am BRAGGING but i am not. i swear!~ i love these people very much, and i was working really hard to catch the attention of the SautiSol lads (@SautiSol on twitter) so on my Eid-Ul-Fitr they followed me back. okay, fine, they followed me back coz i asked, but it doesn't matter. i love them for doing what they did.

Nick Ndeda (@Nickndeda) followed me back without me asking. i hope he still follows me. i am a little insecure about myself when it comes to tweeting but i got over it. i just do random. whatever decent thing that crosses my mind ends up as a tweet. :)

and Amileena? oh my. i once told you that our birthdays are just a day apart, so i said to myself, i must ask for a follow back. we would have shared birthdays if i was a little more in a hurry to get out of my mum's womb. (by the way, a big up to all mums who keep their babies and give birth to them. much love, i salute you.) i asked her and she kindly followed me back. may i say that i love her? very much? even more so now that she followed me back? I love you @aamileena

GrandFathers Making Little Girls Wives and Mothers-Pedophiles Alert!
the law of Kenya says that no one should have sexual relations with minors.

i know we tend to focus more on girls than boys sometimes, but that is because older men go around paying dowry to marry the young girls who haven't even reached puberty! where in this world have you heard an older woman marrying a ten year old boy?

i know girls these days reach puberty before they are even thirteen. even then, the law still considers anyone below eighteen a minor.

i know you are condemning the police and stuff, but the story goes like this-the rich men can do what they want, no one controls them so long as they have as many cattle as they can have which means that they can marry as many wives as they want to.

one 70year old man had the guts to say, that all his wives are now mamas (as in older, they are all mother-like) so he wants someone who is girlish. girlish means a ten-twelve year old girl.

where are the children rights activists? where are the police? i have NOOOOO idea!

some shelters have been founded but the owners are not always safe from being harassed by y the old men and the community. so they live in constant fear, but i daresay, i am so proud of them for taking that bold step. no girl, no boy, no one deserves the fate of having their dreams dimmed!

Mutula's Son Wins Late Father's Seat
when they were busy claiming that Kethi Kilonzo was not Kenyan and that she had wrong papers and stuff, and yes, they took her to court, (the case is still ongoing by the way), her brother was chosen to stand in her place instead, so that they could secure the seat that the dad died holding.

the deceased, Mutula Kilonzo, died of what many suspected was poisoning, and his daughter who is a successful lawyer, declared her interest in the seat when it was declared vacant. however, this story of her interest in the seat culminated in court house battles that left the lady looking exhausted by all the sessions and dealing with the death of her dad . . . that was quite a handful!

i was really happy when her brother won the seat. congratulations to Mutula Juniour!

Miley Cyrus and Her Comeback To The Limelight, Naked!
yes, Smileys, Miley is back. with a new album, Bangerz. it features songs with amazing vocals such as 'We Cant Stop' that was originally written for Rihanna and 'Wrecking Ball' which, i must applaud, because i cried when i heard the lyrics.

even then, she created controversy with her VMA performance that made the Smiths stare wide-eyed, made Rihanna blush, and don't get me started on how the One Direction lads reacted. oh, and Ed Sheeran backstage was like, 'okay, i have no idea what is HAPPENING!'

i was so incensed when she did whatever she did to Robin Thicke's ka-area and i told my sister that Miley must have been high. no one in their right mind could do what she did. it was really really really crazy. everyone was tweeting about it, people were twitpic-ing it, instragramming it, google+ing it, it was all over.

i couldn't understand how someone who couldn't drink alcohol legally in the USA could do that while ten year old girls in Kenya were being forced to have sex with old filthy men.

and the dust hadn't even settled yet when we got the next Miley:The Movement shock balled into our faces. The 'Wrecking Ball' video was indeed a wreck- i have nothing more to say.

i can't even think straight through this anger. i was scarred for life by her nudity. SMH

One Direction Best Song EVER and This Is Us and a new Album!
i told you i am in love with One Direction.

i said it. i am no longer a closet Directioner.

so, the lads were, and still are on tour with 5SOS (five seconds of summer-Aussie) and while at the USA, they released Best Song Ever with a really cool trailer of their movie, This Is Us

and i was like 'Best Song Ever, Best Moment Ever'

and the best part ever isn't said yet- their album, 'Midnight Memories' is out on itunes with Ariana Grande's album that is her debut.

oh my, let me stop before i can't stop.

Demi Lovato IS on Tour NOW!
i know, i know, she was on tour recently, had an album out, DEMI and right now, she is rocking blue hair, being an X-Factor USA judge while having a tour called Neon Lights.

i know it is awesome, right?

i think every Celebrity should come visit Kenya, it is a good luck charm.

oh, and did i mention that her visit to Kenya totally helped her feel like she was getting better already? for Demi, her healing is a daily thing. it means a lot when she says that Kenya made her feel a lot better. i love you DEMI, and the blue hair too!

WestGate Mall Siege
not all Muslims are Terrorists.

i say that because some of us have been getting that sort of treatment after the WestGate Mall Siege that left over 50 dead and about 175 injured.

it was a really really trying time for Kenyans, and it hurts to think that innocent people were harmed. in the Qur'an, a verse says, that the death of one innocent is the death of all humanity. it is also quoted in the movie, "my Name Is Khan'.

the siege ended but the attack on Muslims has just began. some of us fear for our lives.

do you want to know how terrorism began? it started when the children of Palestine started being persecuted. yes, Israel is doing it, and people support this massacre, but no mater what, the world should know that this behaviour is uncouth and unbecoming. please, if you are reading this, help the people in Palestine by spreading peace, and asking the government of Israel to stop the air raids it carries out on Palestine. there is no need to fight when both of them are going to lose their loved ones.

war and terrorism are tools of hate against humanity. if you are humane, you should not support the death of ANY innocents!

The Westgate victims might never fully recover from the shock and fright they experienced in there, and it might take a while for everyone to get back on their feet. because it was traumatizing, it might never really fade away from their memories.

you don't even want to start thinking of Travel Advisories.

or how broke people will be for a while.

i would rather think of how this goes, the sadness and the pain, though it is a tad depressing.

even then, we cannot bring back the lives taken. i humbly send my condolences to all the families affected by the WestGate killings and i wish the injured a quick recovery. remember, We Are One, always were, always will be!

On A Lighter Note. . .
okay, funny me is back.

and school is back!

i have been typing for close to an hour, my fingers hurt. OUCH!

school is so intense, i haven't much time for this blog, but i will try. today has been a fairytale.

and talking about Fairytales, Taylor Swift and the Jonas Brothers have been on tour this year, the latter having released a new album. (can't remember the name because i have been too busy to study up on them before this post)

and talking celebrities, Miley and Liam broke up, so did Jai Brooks and Ariana Grande. her brother attacked her ex on twitter, haha.

why am i laughing? i am supposed to be sad.

maybe i am delirious from all the typing? whatever!

so, i was supposed to mention the maggo. . . oh oh, if you are eating, i am so sorry. i meant to say, the larva of a type of fly that causes myiasis. well, this is certainly a big step in the medical field, and i am really happy about this discovery. as we all know, having a wound that goes septic and results in gangrene and eventually, amputation to save a life, is a no-no.

so, the larva eat the rotting and rotten tissue debris, leaving your wound clean and clear to heal either naturally or through a skin graft. i think this is really going to help ALOT of people!

and do you want to know the best part? the larva does not burrow into your flesh!

it just eats and leaves.

And. . . Its a Wrap!
*sigh* my back is stiff, my fingers sore, but i am happy i posted. so, read my other posts before this one to get entertained or aggravated. (kind of sounds like aggregated/aggregates. oh no. i am reading too many things about aggregates.)

so, take care and keep healthy till my next post which might not be so soon.

if you think you will miss me very much, follow me on twitter. my handle is @ynabeesa and you can also check my soundcloud (lol, i haven't posted in a month! was there yesterday to follow people back, though.)

i follow back,all the time.

~*~*~*~*
and now i have to go! it is past 10.00 am over here and i have a CAT this Thursday, gotta study, gotta study. i recommend you to watch 'Camp Rock' and its sequel and 'My Name Is Khan' if you haven't already watched it!

so, ciao!

much love,
me.

Back To School

i know i've been away for a while, but here i am. . . and i love you guys for reading my posts. i haven't gotten any feedback from you if i should continue posting Sarah Kadesa's story. however, if you are really interested in the story, go check out Fanfiction because i have posted the complete story there. my name is Ynabeesa, just like my Twitter handle, @ynabeesa.

so, school's open, meaning it is not a guarantee that i will post daily. however, i promise to try at least each week. if the worst comes to the worst, then in a fortnight will have to do.

so, here is the post i prepared today before supper. i wrote part of it before my class today.

********************************************************************************************************************************

BACK TO SCHOOL

*sigh* it is back to school, again. The weather is freaking freezing and the company is varied, as usual.

Anyways, no complaining, because the start is supposed to be happy. I mean, being in college/university has its bonus points. Apart from acquiring some decent education, we can leave at our own pleasure and text on our phones, go online if the internet connection isn’t down and the best ever, visit your favorite shops and stalls any day.

Okay, I know by now you are probably asking, “girl, what the hell do you go to school to do?”

I answer, “I go to school to study, learn, make my future life better, and make a few friends.”

Satisfied?

But school has never been fun! Okay, when I think back to my days in boarding school, it felt like opening day was the day my family sacrificed me to the school’s administration.

I hate the hassle that comes with ‘back to school’. First, there are the offers from supermarkets and uniform shops, discounts on shoes in BATA shops and finally, there is never enough oil, or snacks, or soap, because everyone grabbed what was on offer with the free gifts stuck on them.

Then getting to school is the next problem. Transport is either uncomfortable, or the ride has a time tag thingy. You know, either its too long or too short.

For the record, I like day schools better! I mean, no new soap to buy, or the smell of new suitcases, bla bla bla.

My problem with opening school means that I no longer have 24 hours all to myself, and that is a depressing thought, considering the fact that we spend 6 to 7 of these hours asleep. Meaning, the remaining 18 to 17 hours are spent trying to stay awake, study, go to class, talk to yourself, your friends and text everyone on your contact list, and finally, go online to update your blog.

The other day, I was too tired to make a typed blog post, so I started pondering over a vlog, but I decided, nah, that’s gonna eat up all my internet bundles.

Okay, look at me going on and on about the icing on the cake! I can’t help it. That is just so me! I love icing more than cake anyways. (AHEM!)

So, you wonder what the changes are this semester, right? Apart from rushing to be in the welcoming committee of the first years who will report once we settle in. Ok, kidding.

Well, I think you will know all that later. Gotta go, my lecturer just walked in and ¾ of the class is here. I guess the timing is poor. I spent the previous hour tweeting SautiSol and fangirling about them favoriting and retweeting my tweets, then I tweeted Zayn Malik my namesake (fangirling again, CUT IT!) and wishing him a happy Eid in advance. And now its hitting me that he is in a totally different time zone. How could I forget the world is round and not rectangular? I guess its coz of being in the global village formed by the World Wide Web.

While still on the One Direction guys, let me say that I love them to bits, even if they all turn out gay. It is not in my power to judge, but to focus on what they have to offer, which is great music. However, like the legendary Beliebers, their fans are vicious. I mean, it is true that we defend who we love, but they are so controlling, they drive me crazy. Beliebers have made me stop listening to Justin Bieber (sorry dude, I did not love you enough to fight for our love! *eye roll*), and very soon, Directioners and Directionators might make me stop listening to the five boys. Maybe I should focus on my locals because I saw Amileena Mwenesi on telly the other day, looking really cute in a top hat. J .

Did I ever tell you that Amileena’s birthday is one day before mine? Still don’t get the drift? She was on 6th March. March babies are just adorable and cute! Aww!

Okay, back to the issues at hand. . .

How’s the weather? Oh, its been great. That is, if your definition of great lies somewhere between cold winds and icy rain, with a heavy topping of dark nimbus clouds. Yes, that is how Eldoret has been of late. So cold, my feet have been stuck to my bed, and I have been rubbing them against people. . . okay, you didn’t need to know that.

Oh, and I forgot to add how refreshing it is to sit your derriere on the cold chair. Uh-huh, it is a life-changing experience.

Do you know what everyone looks forward to on opening day? Meeting their friends.

I do to, but some old faces are not exactly a welcome sight to these brown eyes. I mean, I have the weirdest encounters, and meet the wildest people and some of them are not exactly my idea of a cup of tea. I mean, they are acquaintances that are . . .you know? They drive you crazy, but you don’t wanna be rude, so . . . you practice civility and ignore them when they piss you off.

However, I do have some friends I look forward to every opening date. My best friends and yes, my roommates. They are so nice. . . okay this sounds like a diary entry now. Ugh! Let me stop being emotional.

This time, our new academic year comes with new tutorial group members, and a new tutor. (No personal details) This means, life goes back to normal, translating to me being popular and playing the role of Queen Bee.

Did you actually buy the last line? I am not popular, but I want to be famous someday soon. Sorry for dashing your hopes. Here, have a tissue.

I am a . . . I will tell you if you ask me. so, if I won’t get asked, I won’t tell.

Today it didn’t rain! How lovely. It was a little bit too cold though, and I keep feeling my feet turn purple.

Am I ranting? I hope not. If I am, just listen. I mean, I am not a nagging wife, but I am pretty awesome company sometimes. I guess I have my moments.

The story is Back-To-School, and right now, I can’t understand anything I have written. I hope you have, so that you can explain it all to me one day soon.

Okay, I go for my Eid/Idd Prayers tomorrow, so I am sending out this shout out to my Muslim brothers and sisters in the world-> Happy Eid and may the celebrations be uneventful.

I have to go, it is supper time. My mum will call me soon to partake in the family meal.

Much love, <3

Poetry Today: Let it Slide

i am so sorry! i forgot you guys soooo muuuuch! i have a treat for you though. i am uploading a poem. i wrote it today, so, if its a little off, understand. hope you will like it.

Let it Slide
So, I saw you checking her out
But you won’t say a thing,
I ask but you interrupt
Tell me I am dreaming
That no one is better than me, for you,
So, I
Let it slide.

I saw you touch her skin,
Her fingers grazed yours as you danced.
You two looked like you were together when you danced
But you told me, baby its nothing
You must be dreaming
There is no one good enough for me
That is better than you.
So, I
Let it slide

I walked in on the two of you making out on stage
And you were all over each other
Your tongue all the way down her throat
And you begged,
Baby its you, its you,
Its not what you think it is
I love you baby, I love you more,
So as usual, I being the fool
Let it slide.

Its been a year since you kicked me out
She lives in our fancy house
And you let her spend on our matrimonial bed.
You said, baby, things aren’t working out
It has never worked out for three years
I have been seeing her for 15 months
She is the mother of my son.
I am sorry baby, I really am.
I have to let us slide.

Now, I am all alone in this new country,
Well provided for, well taken care of
With our baby-he doesn’t know.
I love our little girl, she has his eyes,
And I thank God for the little bundle every day
My nights are lonely and cold
The people foreign and distant
I wish I had known
I wish I hadn’t let it slide
Right now he is with someone else.
And it is all because,
I
Let it slide.

Let it slide.

love, xoxo
me.

hope you guys have an amazing day. or what's left of it at least.

IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW IT FEELS LIKE, . . . SHUT THE HELL UP!

So, you are probably wondering where I have been the last few days. . . here, there and everywhere.

Okay, lets correct that. I have been bust with writing and reading. First, I joined Fanfiction, (yeiy! Whoop! Whoop! *doing a little dance in my head*) then I did some writing for the sequel of This My Story before I got some major writer’s block, then, finally, I discovered this new site called Wattspad. Or is it Wattpad? Ugh! Even then, it has amazing stories, and I actually got some ideas on what to write about my One Direction scenes. Thanks Wattpad!

What’s this blog post about today? You wonder, right? Good thing you asked my friend! This post is about people minding their own business, like literally!

You are probably guessing that something has pissed me off = me ranting today. You BET!

Actually, I am not really pissed. (This is me expressing my conflicted opinions :-) )

Oh, and go check out the new One Direction Video->>>>for Best Song Ever! if I knew how to post links, I would do it, but I don’t, so, just go to Google/YouTube, then type ‘Best Song Ever-One Direction’ and click on the video. Have a laugh and thank me later.

Away from one of my favorite boy bands, I have a pressing issue to address. Hence my blog post today.

I know, we are always so quick to judge someone when they make a mistake or do something that everyone reckons is a mistake because it goes against the flow. It is human tendency, nature even. But in that moment of blindness, have you ever stopped to think how it would be if you were thrown in front of the gun’s barrel?

I doubt if you did.

Everyone makes choices- to do, to not do, or to bum and try nothing. Yes, choosing to not choose is a choice.

In my twenty one years of life, I have learnt to not eliminate certain scenarios. For example, I used to have a friend who vowed to keep her hair natural till the day she’d die. One year ago, she got it all relaxed and right now, she doesn’t regret making the choice to change her hair do. Of course I ask her about it and she shrugs her shoulders and says that nothing’s permanent.

This doesn’t only go for hair.

Today, at 4.00 am, while having my meal, I went online to find out a little more about Zayn Malik. Or Zain Malik, (Oh my, I share a name with him!) one of the guys from One Direction *blush* and yes, I know he is muslim. I have since I Googled them when I was trying to find out what the hell the terms like ‘Beliebers’ ‘Directioners’ ‘Directionators’ ‘One Direction’ ‘BTR’ ‘The Wanted’ and ‘Arianators’ meant. So, I was pretty interested in finding out more about these guys called One Direction and I went a-looking. I was very surprised to find out that they had my name sake!

Well, I would start gushing about their rise to stardom right now, but this isnot my main focus today. My main focus is how some people can actually find the time and the money to talk badly about someone who is doing what he loves.

And yes, it is about Zayn.

Zayn loves music, and if he is happy, then I think people should be happy he is happy. He earns decent money, his siblings are happy, and his life is easier right now. I have a problem with the people who are cursing him and saying mean things about Zayn not being Muslim.

His background is a little mixed up- I think his mum was Christian, and when it comes to such matters, people tend to forget that it is not as easy as ABC. It is a little conflicting because, first of all, it is not a guarantee that you will go for Madrassa. Secondly, as you grow up, you will never fit in. Thirdly, you will probably get bullied. Fourthly, you will get relief from your problems by working harder on your talents so that you can forget the feeling inside.

I guess that is what Zayn did- worked on his singing. It paid off, because now he is touring with four other mates of his who together form the band (in a sing-song voice) One Direction!

Sometimes, your parents don’t want you to get confused, so instead they instill the belief in you that there is a God, and that you should always pray to Him, because He is the only one who truly understands what you go through. I say, better a believer with no religion, than a non-believer with one.

He said the shahadah. Once someone says the words, “La ilaha ilallah wa Muhammad rasooloolah”, then who are you to question his faith? It is true that some actions leave us like non-believers, but that doesn’t mean that we are not muslim. What matters most is what we believe in,. our renewal of faith and our actions.

So it does hurt when someone goes out of their way to insult the rest of us by saying that someone is not ‘Muslim enough’ or ‘Christian enough’. Just because you have been hearing rumours, it doesn’t mean that he does what the rumour says he does. I have beef with people who tend to think I am not ‘Muslim enough’ because I am a native African, or because my hair is not as soft or as smooth as an Arab’s, of that my pigment is not as light as theirs.

You don’t know how I live my life, you don’t know a thing about me. So stop judging me by the crap you hear. If you don’t know, ask.

If you have never walked a mile in my shoes, shut it! Shut up and live your life!

At least I know I have something to live for. As they say, when a door closes, a window opens. If Zayn’s life is all about music, then let him. Who knows, maybe he will change many people’s lives with it. In case you didn’t know, many musicians and singers have somehow improved the lives of many other people by being themselves. They start charities and help everyone who needs their assistance. Others become ambassadors (I’d like to be made one some day) of change, and they work to eradicate diseases and conditions that hinder growth and development.

As my tweet said, earlier today (my twitter handle is @ynabeesa), leave Zayn Malik alone! If you haven’t lived his life, or experienced his insecurities, then you have NOTHING to contribute to the flames of hate against him. And that applies to everyone else. You have no right to hate someone if you haven’t lived through their experiences.

You will never understand how much it hurts till you feel the pain.

So back off me, Zayn and everyone else who you have been spreading crap about! If you have a problem, just tell him or her personally, not going around tainting someone’s name. As is well known, Karma is a WITCH (I know everyone goes with the ‘Karma is a b*tch’ version, but I use the moderated one.)

And Zayn, for the record, I don’t dig your tattoos. I think you have great skin and you shouldn’t be covering it with dark artificial marks. #JustSaying

Have an awesome day my good people!

Much love,
Me.

oh, and for the record, i love singing too. #TeamZainZayn

Spreading the love

This My Story. . . Chapter 4

Hey everyone! i know i did a number on you last week, but i am posting this week. check out my previous post on Friendship.

i hope you like what i am posting. you know, if fanfic works out, i will be posting there as well. so, cutting the story short, here goes NOTHING.

Chapter 4
“Did you see her? She was amazing.”

“Apparently, she did her own song, and Caitlyn mixed the song.”

“Caitlyn did that? What is she? A producer?”

“Oh my God! She is so gonna be famous!”

That was what greeted us as we walked to class on Monday. The weekend had been fun and now we were still hung-over. My brother had an exam but he had promised to call-in later, when he had finished his last paper. It had been an email, short but precise. That was Eddie, always to the point. He was finishing his finals later that week, then he’d fly back home for his Christmas Holidays.

Throughout the day, people were being nice and staring at us both. Some of the basketball guys even stopped by on their way to the field to congratulate the two of us. For Caitlyn, this wasn’t new. She always got the attention. For me, however, it was my first time, and I lapped it all up. It felt divine.

Though I was awfully shy, I got through the day with Caitlyn’s help. She had joked that if I got famous and forgot about her, she would sell my secrets to the highest bidding magazine. We had laughed at it, but for some reason, I felt it was true.

That afternoon, midway through the boring Geography lesson, I was summoned to the principal’s office. I had never been there, and though I knew I had done nothing wrong, I was still freaked out. Caitlyn’s arrival made me relax a little bit. Just as I was whispering at her about how boring Geography was, the secretary ushered us in. my whispering stopped.

Mrs. Smith’s face was etched in a smile. She was the daughter of the founder of Top Hill and people were scared of her. It was shocking that she was in a good mood today. I saw her smile at my confused self, and she winked at Caitlyn, who surprisingly winked back and hugged her.
“Never been here, have you?”

“No.”

“That means you are a good student and you stay out of trouble.”

I didn’t know what to say, so I just smiled back.

“Would you like some tea?” she offered, looking at both of us.

“Sure Aunty,” Caity said, and my jaw dropped. Mrs. Smith saw my reaction and laughed.

“Sarah, you didn’t know?”

I nodded my head. Caity had conveniently left it out. I knew she had her reasons. It probably explained why she had been so relaxed.

“Aunt Kelly, you know I love tea, and if you serve it, I will surely miss my classes.” Caity said, smiling at her slim aunt who was already serving the tea and biscuits that had been at a table next to the window near her working station. I saw my friend smiling at me, urging me to dive into the festival. Unfortunately for me, I was still a little full from lunch. So I took my cup of tea and picked up a paper thin biscuit which I nibbled at timidly.

“I heard about your performance yesterday. And I watched it too.”

“It was wicked aunty! Sarah has an incredible voice.”

“Yes, and yet she is so cute, nibbling at the biscuit for two minutes. Loosen up Sarah! I won’t suspend you. You have done something amazing for our school.”

“I have?” I asked, hesistant. It was a little hard to loosen up.

“You know, Top Hill is well known for Basketball and hockey, but no one has ever bothered with the Arts. Its puzzling because we are the best at languages, yet the Arts still go unrecognized. Our drama department is missing Eddie and Mitchie. They were amazing people and they took us far. However, they left a void when they cleared. Talking about Eddie, how is he?”

“he is pretty okay, and he is flying in for the holidays. He said to say hello to you.”

“he did? Or did you just make that up?”

“I did make it up. Sorry. But I am pretty sure he’d have wanted me to tell you that.”

“well then, the greetings have been accepted.”

“I will convey them. In an email.”

At this juncture, the three of us laughed. The tension visibly reduced. I felt a little happier and finished my biscuit.

“So, Aunt, why did you call for us to come here?”

“I wanted to ask your lovely friend to help us, by singing some of the songs in the play. We are expecting a number of visitors from USA and Britain, my father included, who will be scouting for talent on that day. You are probably aware that they usually do that after a major basketball game. We are hosting the Tournament on that day. So far, they have not seen any promising talent in the play. However, perhaps having a local celebrity, or rather, two local celebrities, will motivate the cast.”

“I have never acted.” I found myself admitting. “okay, I have, but I was the baker murdered in the story of Joseph. In the bible,” I said this quickly.

“Really?” Caitlyn asked.

“Really.”

“you can sing instead. We are aware that you conquered your stage fright. Maybe a few changes are necessary in the play. You can sing, and have a few lines. Oh, and as a by the way, I am writing the play this year. Last year’s was a mess.”

I looked at Mrs. Smith. She really looked like she needed my help. And help I would. I agreed to her conditions and she toasted our tea cups to the new victory. I needed a refill.

“Caity, I am so excited that your mum is coming!” I said to her as we practiced later that week for the play. Caity had been given a few lines as well. It was funny watching her rap the words jokingly. According to the play, I was supposed to be performing in a club. I was to temporarily wow the main characters and make the main actor develop a crush on me. Caity was to dress up as a young man, my pianist brother.

Many people turned up to audition for the roles, now that we were already in the play. We had learnt the songs and I was already making half the school turn up to watch the practice sessions every evening.

My parents allowed me to come a little late after practice, and I found it a great deal. I loved the fact that I could be pulling a crowd. For once, I understood why my big brother lived for the stage. It was an amazing experience. A good thing is that I wasn’t required to practice everyday. It was quite tiring and it was affecting my sleep a little bit.

In between the practice and class sessions, I was doing a few covers with Caity. I did the cover of Amani’s Missing my Baby and Wahu Kagwi’s Sweet Love. She had created a Youtube channel for me, and her, and we uploaded any videos we made. We got a few views, but we knew that would change after the play. According to Caity, they were increasing due to the video the school had posted on their Youtube Channel of me performing at the Competition. Mrs. Smith was the one who did the posting and attached a link to our school’s website.

The comments were nice. Some people said that I was going to be the next Demi Lovato, or their Kenyan Demi Lovato. Others said that I was simply breathtaking. I got a few bad comments, especially from someone who said that I had rigged the competition. When Caitlyn and I read the comment, we looked at each other and said, “Tess.”

My parents wanted me to keep up with my classes and assignments. It was a delicate balance, but I managed. I also had exams to read for too. The exhaustion was getting to me. It wasn’t long before I got a really bad cold. Normally, I’d have the cold last up to two weeks, but this one was so bad, I had to see a doctor. I was told to stop whatever it was that I was doing, but not before he asked me for an autograph. He said, “one day soon, you will be famous, and I’d like to have an autograph for my little girl. She was at the Competition with her mum that day. The lady who gave you a hug as you stepped off the stage.”

I whispered a thanks as he congratulated me on my amazing performance. After giving me a prescription, I was taken home and wrapped up in my blankets and anything and everything warm. I was freezing. Caitlyn stopped by after school with a concoction that was supposed to make me better as soon as possible. It only made me sleepier.

It was taking too long for me to get better. As the day of the play drew closer, it seemed like the cold was not getting the hint. Everyone was freaking out, so was i. I wasn’t even allowed to talk. I was made to drink every type of green tea that could heal colds. Mrs. Smith even called my parents twice to find out how I was doing. The teas Caitlyn  kept giving me were from her aunt. It was so unfortunate that we hadn’t even thought of recording the performance.

“you have to get better. Tony is distraught, he won’t stop bugging me,” Caitlyn said two days before the play. The guy was the main actor, very talented fellow. He had instantly taken a liking to me. He had dropped by to say hello as soon as he heard I was forced to have bed-rest. He had wanted to bring me flowers but my mum told him I was allergic to them.

I am getting better, I wrote.

“You know, only two days and we have to win us some respect. We might even get into Hollywood through this. My mum will be there, working.”

Your mum is awesome. Is she coming before then? I would love to meet her.

“She said she will be flying in tomorrow. Apparently, she will be here for a week before Hollywood calls. Hahaha!”

You make it sound like Hollywood isn’t a big deal. Is it?

“Yes. Especially Hollywood Records.”

Hollywood Records? That sounds familiar. Is it coz its in Hollywood?

Caitlyn laughed. “No dummy. Its because Disney owns it.”

Oh. . . I am so sleepy. Is this tea bhang? Kama ni bhang, nitakushtaki.

“Ati bhang! We ni fala saa zingine. Its just to help you get better. My aunt has these herbs she grows that are medicinal. No bhang, I swear.”

Okay, but I like the one that smells like lemon. At least I know I am not getting high.
“We ni fala sana. That’s lemon grass. I love it too. Hibiscus is my favourite though.”

“Sarah, say bye to Caity. Its time to leave,” I heard Rehema call up the stairs.

“I wish I was the one who had this cold.”

Be careful what you wish for. You just might get it ALL. . . Muhahaha!

Sometimes, I think that this cold has affected your thinking” Caitlyn said, pointing to her head.

I hope you get this cold and get high on green teas. That will be my happiest day ever! Go home Caity, you are not helping me. Much love, zzzzzzzzzzz.

Caitlyn took one look at what I had written and burst into laughter. I tried to laugh but I knew I wasn’t supposed to.

“I miss your laugh, and I miss you in class. Get well soonest! Bye and sleep tight, you addict!”
